Intel Core Ultra 9 “Meteor Lake” CPUs will reportedly boost beyond 5GHz

While we wait for Intel to share more details about the upcoming Intel Core Ultra series processors, leakers have shared some bits of information about their specifications. For instance, a prominent leaker has recently claimed that the Core Ultra chips will be able to boost beyond 5GHz.

Intel's eagerly awaited mobile series, built on the Meteor Lake architecture, promises a substantial leap in clock speeds. Golden Pig Upgrade claims Intel was successful in overcoming the challenges that were limiting the boost clock speeds of the upcoming processors, clearing the path for the chips to go beyond the 5.0GHz mark.

It's rumoured that the Core 7 Ultra series will boost up to 5.0GHz, while the higher-tier Core Ultra 9 chip will boost even higher. Unfortunately, a specific figure wasn't shared, but at least it gives us hope that the upcoming CPUs won't have any clock speed-related impediments. Moreover, it's important to mention that these speeds are for the Performance cores within the chip. The E-cores will likely clock considerably lower.

Note that the mobile Raptor Lake CPUs were already capable of reaching 5.0GHz clock speeds. For example, the Core i9-13900HX and Core i9-13900H were able to boost up to 5.4GHz clock speeds. Moreover, the Core i7-1370P (the actual predecessor of Meteor Lake) was able to hit 5.2GHz clock speeds.
