CPU-Z benchmark puts Intel Core i9-13900K above AMD Ryzen 9 7950X

The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X will likely perform better than any processor that's currently available on the market. However, that may not be true after Intel launches its upcoming Raptor Lake-S flagship CPU, the Core i9-13900K, with early CPU-Z tests indicating Intel's chip will win the performance crown.

According to the screenshot shared by Raichu, the Ryzen 9 7950X can score 15,645 points in CPU-Z's multi-threaded test. However, the leaker wrote “it can be better”, meaning the retail samples should score higher than that. Considering that, a CPU-Z mT score at stock breaking the 16K mark should be possible.

This score alone is quite impressive compared to today's top performers, beating the Intel Core i9-12900K/KF by almost 40% and the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X by 32%. Still, with Intel Raptor Lake-S coming soon, it's worth comparing the upcoming AMD flagship with the best the 13th Gen Core will have to offer. Leaks have shown the 24C/32T Core i9-13900K scores between 16K and 17K points, meaning it will probably outperform the AMD Ryzen 7000 series flagship in this benchmark.

The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X will release alongside other Ryzen 7000 series processors on September 27th.

KitGuru says: If Intel hadn't increased the amount of E-cores for Raptor Lake-S, the new flagship Ryzen chip would surely outperform it. Fortunately for Intel, the extra eight E-cores make all the difference, boosting mT performance just enough to beat the competition. Still, there is only so much we can glean from one benchmark. We'll have a much wider range of performance tests to look at over the course of September.
