We tested the peak power consumption of a NAS at the wall during a run of CrystalDiskMark 5.0.2 as this version of the benchmark runs the read and write benchmark suites separately so it's easier to monitor what power the device is using during each function.
Synology quotes power consumption figures for the DS1019+ of 38.59W when the discs are being accessed and 13.32W when discs are in hibernation. These figures are from the NAS when using Western Digital 1TB Red drives (Read/write 3.3W Idle 2.3W Standby/Sleep 0.4W). To test the NAS we used the 6TB Red drives which have an active read/write power rating of 5.3W and 3.4W idle & 0.4W sleep ratings.
