The Asus EA-AC87 is a fairly straightforward product, so there’s nothing unexpected on either the outside or inside of the box. Its labelled in typical Asus style with a list of its main features bottom left.
The package contains the unit itself, with the antennas supplied separately. It has the familiar Asus checkered pattern on the top, with a perfectly square design. There’s also a quick-start guide and warranty information, with a power adapter (not pictured).
When assembled, you can see the EA-AC87 has a definite ‘bug-like’ look to it, which we found rather amusing. There’s a groove running along the side, which could attract dust.
It has five Ethernet ports, a master power button and the power connector on one side.
And on another side there are indicators for power, Ethernet and signal quality.
On yet another side are some buttons to set up the unit: the WPS button, and LED toggle, a reset buttons and a switch to go between access point and bridge modes.
Flip the device over and you can see holes for wall mounting.
