We are slightly torn about the SteelSeries Sensei [RAW] Frost Blue Edition. Its performance is excellent and being ambidextrous makes it useful for a wider group of gamers.
However, a glossy finish on an object that is constantly in use is something that we cannot get past. We have not had a chance to test the rubberized version but we expect it to be a lot more comfortable to use. A rubberized finish would have definitely raised the final score for the Sensei [RAW].
At the end of the day, it is the SteelSeries Engine that makes SteelSeries products stand out. The customization potential it offers, combined with its ease of use, makes the Sensei [RAW] a pleasure to use despite its shortcomings.
If you are thinking about buying a new mouse or have ever thought about using an ambidextrous mouse, the SteelSeries [RAW] Frost Blue Edition definitely deserves your attention. That said, we would recommend visiting a shop that has one on display before purchasing so you can decide if the glossy finish will work for you.
The SteelSeries Sensei [RAW] is available for £47.99 inc vat., which makes it £24 cheaper than the original Sensei.
Pros:
- Excellent tracking performance.
- SteelSeries Engine support.
- Competitively priced.
- Ambidextrous design.
Cons:
- Glossy finish does not work well for grip.
- Some minor angle prediction at lower CPI settings.
- Placement of CPI button is not ideal.
KitGuru says: Solid performance with a reasonable price tag. However, the glossy finish will not appeal to everyone.
