Overall, we are pleased with the ROCCAT Ryos MK Pro. The keyboard feels like it can withstand a good amount of abuse and the rubber feet help to keep it firmly in place.
Our model arrived with black switches, which worked well for us. We use keyboards for prolonged periods of time over the course of a day and the ROCCAT Ryos MK Pro was a pleasure to use for extended durations. The choice of Cherry MX switches will be a personal one for the majority of users and luckily ROCCAT offer a variety.
The lighting on the keyboard is strong, though it can easily be adjusted to accommodate both day and night scenarios. Being able to customize every key individually, rather than being limited to pre-defined zones on the keyboard, is a plus.
Regular readers will know by now that we are generally apprehensive about glossy surfaces on peripherals that are touched regularly. We were amazed by the fact that we did not manage to get the Ryos MK Pro covered in fingerprints, nor did the keyboard attract vast amounts of dust either.
Our only concerns with the ROCCAT Ryos MK Pro are the wrist rest and cable channels. We have no doubt many gamers will appreciate the oversized wrist rest. However, we felt it was too big and got in our way from time to time.
The cable channels work well enough, though it can be a challenge to route cables properly. As there are no latches for the cable users will have to find a way to keep the cable tightened in the channel while the keyboard is set down. Being able to clip these in would have made the experience more user friendly. As it is, we resorted to leaving the cable draped next to the keyboard.
Pricing at this moment in time is not yet known, though the Ryos MK Pro is expected to go on sale for approximately $150. When it lands on UK shelves we expect the pricing to settle around £100 inc vat.
Pros:
- Sturdy and strong build.
- Variety of Cherry MX Switches.
- Per-key lighting works well.
- Extra USB ports, audio jack and mic jack.
- N-key rollover.
- Non smudge glossy surface maintains a sleek look.
Cons:
- Wrist rest can feel too big and is not detachable.
- No method of securing cables in the cable channels.
KitGuru says: A strong keyboard with immense potential for customisation.
Lovely looking keyboard, good build quality. Already using a Razer blackwidow but this looks equally impressive.
This keyboard is amazing, and I am going to assume that this keyboard isn’t going to be compatible with Roccat FX is it?
