PlayStation Portal is the no.1 gaming accessory of 2024 in the UK

While Sony’s PlayStation Portal remote play handheld was initially scrutinised for its relative simplicity and lack of features, the accessory appears to be doing very well for itself ever since its launch back in November of last year. In fact, the £199.99 Portal has become the number 1 best-selling accessory in the UK by revenue this year.

As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, the GfK released their latest monthly UK gaming charts, revealing an interesting amount of long-term success for the PlayStation Portal.

According to GfK's games lead Dorian Bloch, “In the UK, the Sony PlayStation Portal Remote Player has been consistently the No1 or No2 best-selling gaming accessory by revenue since launch in November 2023. Only in January this year was it outside the top two due to stock issues.”

This matches previous sales reports for the system, which sold out in just two days following its initial launch, with Sony themselves stating that “Although we don’t have any numbers to share, the demand has continued to exceed our expectations” back in February of this year.

While the PS Portal remains a relatively niche device in terms of its utility, the accessory has slowly gotten additional features – and so hopefully its success encourages Sony to continue investing in its future support.
