Smartfish Whirl Mini Laser Notebook Mouse Review

As expected, the look and feel of the Whirl Mini is very similar to the bigger sibling. It is a very intuitive mouse to use and small enough to take with you when you are on the move.

The Whirl Mini doesn't offer 4 way scrolling or increased dpi settings which feature on the full size Whirl. This is somewhat of a disappointment considering those two features were positive aspects of the Whirl.

The smaller size of the Mini is welcomed by people like myself who have smaller hands. The Whirl was rather large in my hand and I found the more compact Whirl Mini design was more comfortable and easier to navigate with.  The Whirl Mini feels better for me when gaming, although a portion of the audience will notice the relatively low DPI settings.

The Whirl Mini is available from the Smartfish website for $49.95 USD which is the same price as the full size Whirl. We know that some of you will find $50 a significant amount to spend on a notebook mouse, but considering the ergonomic design and compact size it will be a perfect partner for many people. At this price point it compares favorably against other quality mice in this sector.

Thanks to the increased comfort level we are rating the Mini slightly higher then the full size Whirl. We feel that the Smartfish Whirl Mini is a product worth considering if you are in the market for a quality portable mouse designed with ergonomic comfort in mind.

Pro's:

  • Compact design
  • Portability
  • Comfortable even after extended use
  • Long battery life

Cons:

  • No advanced features
  • Needs better integration with the Web

Kitguru says: A good size for many people and it is exceptionally well constructed.
