The Gamdias HADES Extension is a relatively standard looking mouse, though it does feature a more humped back than the average gaming rodent. Instead of the silicon and soft plastics we have come to expect on gaming peripherals, the HADES actually uses a slightly textured, hard plastic. It does not feel as nice to the touch, but in use is perfectly comfortable and potentially offers more grip.
The Gamdias logo at the back lights up when the mouse is powered up and can be customised through the software (more on that later).
The left hand side features a detachable thumb rest, which can be switched out for any of three options, and a pair of side buttons just above it. The custom grips are held firmly in place and are made from a slightly rougher plastic.
At the front end is a small HADES logo, along with the usual left and right mouse buttons – said to have a life spam of several million clicks. These should be durable and can be pressed far back on the mouse … a boon for claw grip gamers.
In the middle is the usual scroll wheel, which has a single depressable button as well as its usual functions. It is not clear if it is a feature of a design issue, but the button can also be pressed by rocking the scroll wheel to the right. It does nothing if you do the same to the left.
The right hand side mirrors the left almost exactly, featuring the same side buttons and a finger grip. Removing the grip shows you the three recesses with magnets inside. They do a good job of holding the grips in place and therefore it can actually be quite difficult to remove a grip in order to replace it.
The underside is pretty standard for a mouse of this type. It has (non-branded) teflon pads at the front and back, as well as a couple of tiny ones on the sides, with a centrally mounted laser sensor.
The cable is braided to a high standard and comes with a pre-attached cable tie. It also features a gold USB header for added durability.
