Razer upgrades its gaming mice with 8000Hz polling rate

Razer has announced that it is introducing support for a true 8000Hz wireless polling to a broader selection of its gaming mice. That includes bringing the feature to the Viper V2 Pro, DeathAdder V3 Pro, Cobra Pro, Basilisk V3 Pro, and Viper V3 HyperSpeed mice.

Gaming mice have had a standard polling rate of 1,000Hz for years. That started to change when mice manufacturers launched their first 8,000Hz polling rate mice in 2021. Since then, there has been a steady increase in high-end mice adopting the more responsive spec.

With an 8000Hz polling rate, your mouse can transmit up to eight times more data every second to your PC (compared to a 1000Hz polling rate). This significantly reduces input delays from the typical 1ms to just 0.125ms. As such, your cursor movements will be smoother, accuracy improved, and micro-stutters reduced. Additionally, Razer Synapse software allows you to adjust the polling rate to your liking, from 125Hz to 8000Hz, so you can adjust it to your liking or make changes for specific games.

This update is now available and applies to owners of the Viper V2 Pro, DeathAdder V3 Pro, Cobra Pro, Basilisk V3 Pro, and Viper V3 HyperSpeed. To upgrade your Razer HyperPolling compatible gaming mouse, ensure you have the latest version of Razer Synapse installed. Once updated, you will notice a link under your HyperPolling compatible device indicating “Firmware update available” within the main Synapse dashboard. Clicking on this link will redirect you to Razer.com, where you can download the firmware updater.
