LG’s 27-inch QHD/240Hz OLED gaming monitor is finally available

Late last year, LG announced its most promising gaming monitor to date – the UltraGear 27GR95QE-B, packing a 27-inch OLED panel with 1440p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. Now just a few months later, this monitor is available in the UK.

It has taken longer than many of us wanted but OLED gaming monitors are finally starting to become more common. The new UltraGear monitor from LG doesn't just impress with the high contrast ratios and colour accuracy that OLED brings. Its refresh rate is gets a nice bump from the standard 120/144Hz to a very decent 240Hz, which is particularly good for competitive multiplayer games. Better yet, the monitor has a very low 0.3ms GTG response time, an upgrade over the typical 1ms we see on many gaming monitors today.

The monitor also supports FreeSync Premium, G-Sync and it has an HDMI 2.1 connection, so it could also be a good option for those who game on both PC and a current-gen console, like the Xbox Series X or PS5, both of which support 1440p displays.

Here in the UK, this monitor is launching with a £998.99 price tag, making it a high-end upgrade. While the price is high, the spec sheet ticks a lot of the right boxes for PC gamers, so it could end up being popular.
