ASRock launches two new 520Hz gaming monitors

ASRock is doubling down on high refresh rates with the launch of two new Phantom Gaming IPS monitors, the PG27FFX2A and PG27FFX1B. These 27-inch 1080p displays boast a 520 Hz refresh rate, catering to competitive gamers who prioritise speed and responsiveness above all else.

While 1080p resolution might seem like a step back in the age of 4K gaming, it remains the most popular resolution among Steam users. ASRock aims to capture this market with its new Phantom Gaming monitors, offering a compelling alternative to the TN and VA panels that currently dominate the high-refresh-rate segment.

The PG27FFX2A and PG27FFX1B feature a 520 Hz refresh rate and a 1 ms response time, ensuring incredibly smooth motion and minimal input lag. They also have the VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, meeting the basic requirements for HDR content display.

The key difference between the two models lies in their stands and connectivity. The PG27FFX2A has an ergonomic stand that allows you to adjust tilt, swivel, and height, while the PG27FFX1B has a static stand that only supports tilt. In addition, both monitors support VESA 100×100 mounting. As for connectivity, unlike the PG27FFX1B, the PG27FFX2A has built-in Wi-Fi antennas that support Wi-Fi 7. ASRock states these antennas work as an extension for existing network cards, potentially improving wireless connectivity and reducing latency for online gaming.

The two monitors' other connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, a headphone jack, and two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports. Moreover, both monitors pack two 2W speakers.

KitGuru says: Even if we don't know the pricing yet, the PG27FFX1B will likely be cheaper than the PG27FFX2A due to its more modest feature set. With that in mind, which one would you prefer?
