AOC launches new pair of AGON high refresh rate gaming monitors

AOC is expanding its Agon line-up of gaming monitors once again. This month, we'll see the new AG275QX and AG275QXN monitors becoming available, a pair of 27-inch QHD displays, with one being a cheaper VA panel option, and the other packing an IPS panel.

Although both monitors look the same, the panels themselves aren't that similar. Sure, they both are 27-inch and have a QHD resolution and 1ms G2G response time. However, while the AG275QX packs an IPS panel with a 170Hz refresh rate, the AG275QXN uses a VA panel with 165Hz. The IPS monitor also has G-Sync Compatible certification, in addition to FreeSync Premium, while the VA monitor is only FreeSync Premium certified.

Considering one uses an IPS panel and the other a VA panel, the same image reproduced on both monitors should look quite different. The IPS panel will have better viewing angles and colour thanks to its 10-bit colour depth, while the VA panel has an 8-bit colour depth and a lower contrast ratio. Still, both monitors do have DisplayHDR 400 certification, and you'll save some money going with the VA version.

Both monitors ship with the same included stand, which allows for height, tilt and pivot adjustment. The stand can be replaced with any VESA 100×100 monitor arm or stand.  Gaming features include Shadow Control, Motion Blur Reduction, frame counter, crosshair overlay, multiple colour presets and support for 120Hz console gaming. Connectivity inputs include 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, 2x DisplayPort 1.4, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB hub with 4x USB-A 3.2 Gen1.

The AGON AG275QX and AG275QXN will release this month, priced at £339.99 and £279.99, respectively.

KitGuru says: Would you spend the extra to get the IPS panel? Or would you prefer saving some money and going with the VA version?
