Logitech announce solar powered keyboard – preorder now

Hands up if you are sick replacing the batteries in your mouse and keyboard? Well Logitech might just have the answer to your prayers in the shape of their new Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 which is powered completely by the sun and will work indoors.

The keyboard gets enough power to charge the battery for night time action. Over a period of time the battery will charge to support total darkness for up to three months, which is a fantastic talking point – a little like the kinetic powered watches.

Logitech are supplying software with the keyboard to ensure that you can see the current charge and interestingly there is also a lux meter to inform the user of how much light is hitting the panels.

The keyboard is an attractive slim line design (7.5mm) which looks similar to a few Logitech keyboards already on the market, with support for media functionality and unifying USB wireless technology.

Pricing is £69.99 in the UK and it will be available January 2011 – pre orders are open already at the Logitech webstore.

  1. Wow this looks brilliant, wonder if it will work ok in a normal bedroom, I dont get a lot of light at the best of times here, but id love to get this as I hate hunting for batteries for my board and it dies at the worst of times. ill wait for reviews on this nearer the time I think.

  2. love the idea ! not sure how practical it will be real world though. We would need a long term test on this, as launch reviews wont be able to answer this question “how does the charging system work and how many months does it really last!”.

Might be worth a risk im sure its been researched well if its logitech. if it was razer id have my doubts.
