The Cooler Master GM2711S is a decent choice “bread and butter” 27in 1440p gaming display, offering an appropriate resolution for this screen size. The 180Hz refresh and Adaptive Sync make this a solid choice for FPS gaming. The colour fidelity is high, and there are comprehensive ergonomic adjustments so you can position the panel just the way you want. There is a good selection of inputs, too, with the notable absence of USB-C. The Advanced Reflectionless Technology (A.R.T. Film) works well to eliminate glare.
However, there are some odd decisions with this screen. The USB connection is primarily there for headset audio and is USB 2.0 only so will primarily offer connectivity for a single input peripheral – mouse or keyboard. The image quality presets could be more extensive. There could be a few more gaming-specific capabilities in the OSD as well, such as crosshairs (although some consider this cheating). The gamut is also not quite as good as specified.
These deficiencies can easily be forgiven when you look at the £265 price, however. We couldn't find a cheaper 27in screen with this resolution that offers a 180Hz refresh.
An obvious comparison is the 170Hz Gigabyte M27Q, which we reviewed a couple of years ago. That offers some useful additional features such as a KVM and the ability to configure settings using a desktop PC, plus its gamut is better and there is certified AMD FreeSync Premium support. But it's also considerably more expensive, making the Cooler Master better value, and a sensible mainstream gaming choice.
