Overall we are quite impressed with the Thermaltake Tt eSPORTs Shock One gaming headset as it offers a combination of good performance, attractive aesthetics and decent build quality. We think that the virtual surround sound feature is one of the most important aspects of this headset as it really helps to improve the gaming and movie playback experiences, improving sound directionality quite considerably.
The use of a USB connector for the headset is necessary for the virtual surround sound but this does mean the headset cant be used with other devices like MP3 players and smartphones. If you want an all round headset that can be used with a whole array of different devices, we would recommend that you consider something like the SteelSeries Siberia V2 instead.
For many gamers, the most important factor to consider when looking to buy a gaming headset is the price. The Shock one can be yours for £60 at Scan.co.uk which puts it in the same league as the Siberia V2. While it does feature virtual surround sound, we feel that the SteelSeries headset offers better general performance and much better comfort. The Shock One still offers good value for money but we would like to see it reaching a price point of £50 before we would recommend it hands down over the competition.

Where is the weight wrong (heavy)? in the middle of the headband or the ear pieces themselves?
Did I miss it, they’ve missed testing the mic quality in battle?
My cousin Dan’s kid spent over £100 on some Razer headset thing and the wiring kept coming out from the ear piece. The shop he bought it from swapped it twice, but it must have hurt them. They told him it was normal. If these things don’t last that long anyway, then why spend money on them? Surely a normal phone-type headset would work and cost £15? Also, most of the time when I’m round Dan’s place, the kids scream at each other anyway 🙂
I have owned this headset for a few months now and i can say that the sound quality is great, and so is the build quality. The problem with the headset being a little tight goes away after a few weeks of use and ends up being very comfortable. I bought these for $80 Australian which was quite cheap compared to the other headphones on offer.
If you are looking for a headset that performs well for a little cheaper the Gamescon 777 headset from plantronics are also very good for $65 Australian dollars.
