ROCCAT Kova[+] Optical Gaming Mouse Review

The software that ROCCAT include with the Kone[+] provides a huge number of configurable options that let you set up the mouse just how you like it.  It lets you set up to five configuration profiles which you can switch on the fly providing you assign buttons to let you do this.

On the main page of the software there are options for configuring sensitivity, scroll and tilt speed, pointer speed and double click rate.  There are also four tick boxes which let you select the DPI level to 400, 800, 1600 or 3200 DPI.  The next page of the software handles the button assignments.  All of the buttons except the left and right mouse buttons can be configured to any function and you can easily switch between left and right handed modes using the tick boxes at the bottom of the page.  You can also apply custom macros to the buttons which you can configure in the inbuilt macro manager.

Moving on to the ‘Advanced Control' tab, we find a number of other configurable options that you are less likely to change on a regular basis.  Firstly there are a number of options for the LED lighting, letting us set a single colour or colour cycling effects.  You can also turn the ‘breathing' effect on and off and turn the lights off altogether if you wish.  There are also options for adjusting the polling rate between 125, 250, 500 and 1000 Hz and an option which plays a sound when you change certain settings.  The final page of the software provides easy access to ROCCAT support and lets you download the latest drivers for the mouse.

  1. Nice looking mouse. Im afraid my microsoft one has done me a long time and there is still some life in it yet.

  2. The mouse shape looks comfortable from the pictures. that software design is so cluttered looking however. its like an alienware design interface system

  3. I just bought another IKARI after finding one on a store. the kai is not so good. This looks pretty good, never seen them stocked locally, and I never buy a mouse online without putting my hand on it first. only way to tell if it will work.

  4. Nick if youre in the UK and are attending epicLAN or i42 this year there will be a range of Roccat gear to view, test and win in competitions ! (over at Kustom pc’s)

  5. Looks like a decent buy for the price, but so many options now it would be hard to pick this over say a steel series or razer

  6. Almost bought this weeks ago but opted for a Logitech as it’s too risky without using it first hand
