Cooler Master CM Storm Spawn Mouse Review

The mouse itself takes on a unique form that we haven't seen used for a gaming mouse before which includes a rather large bulge along the right edge of the mouse.  This is designed to facilitate gamers who use a claw-grip when gaming and it does it well.  This doesn't mean the Spawn is uncomfortable to use with other gripping styles, though, as both palm and finger grips are just as well-suited.  As usual there is a thumb alcove along the left side of the mouse which allows a tigher, more secure grip.

Rather than cover the Spawn with uninteresting black paint, Cooler Master have decided to infuse some excitement into the design by using a slightly metallic black paint for the palm area.  This has a slightly rubberised finish which, in conjunction with the black rubber inserts on both flanks, lets you grip the mouse very securely.  All of the mouse buttons are also finished in matte-black.

The left and right mouse buttons have a responsive action and provide enough resistance to prevent accidental acvitavation.  It's clear that Cooler Master have spent a good deal of time perfecting the mouse wheel as it provides enough resistance to be precise without degrading the ability to scroll a number of ‘clicks' at once.

Build quality is perfectly acceptable for a mouse within this price range despite the lack of a braided cable for improved durability.  Cooler Master have thought to include a gold-plated USB connector to ensure the best possible connection, though.
