Samsung to release ‘curved glass’ smartphone in October

Samsung are planning to release a smartphone in October which features ‘curved glass'. The company announced this in a media event in Seoul last night.

D.J. Lee, Samsung's mobile business head of strategic marketing said “We plan to introduce a smartphone with a curved display in South Korea in October.”

No other details were announced at the event and guesses are being made right now as to whether the curved screen will be a flexible display. Samsung recently replaced Apple as the world's most profitable smartphone maker and they have already shown a prototype of a flexible AMOLED screen at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2011.

The Nexus S was also the first smartphone which offered a ‘Contour Display' although the sales were not that strong at the time.

Kitguru says: Rumor has it that Apple are also playing with curved glass – and their upcoming wristwatch may feature the technology.

KitGuru Games: The Best Console is the One in Your Pocket

Emulation is the saving grace of the video games industry. Despite its controversial nature, the technology will be the only way in which all games are preserved for the future – free from licensing agreements and other such nonsense. Better still is the fact that in a majority of cases, emulation allows for a more accurate recreation of the game’s original experience than official offerings, due to countless complex shaders, filters and tweakable settings. And the best part? Thanks to the progression of technology, your humble smartphone is able to do all this and more – giving you the power of 10,000 games in the palm of your hand.
