Atari Breakout easter egg in Google image search

Google are celebrating the 37th birthday of the class Atari game Breaktout in a very entertaining way. They have turned Google Image Search into a version of the game.

To get the Easter egg running, simply type in Atari Breakout into Google Image Search and press the return key. The search results will still appear but they will be categorised into blocks, just like the game. You get control of the bat at the bottom of the screen and get to destroy the blocks.

The original game was created in 1976 by Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristow and was based on the 1972 game, Pong. After Breakout there were many copy cat games and even a ‘Super Breakout' version a couple of years later.

Kitguru says: Google Image Search Breakout actually plays very well, so don't say we didn't warn you!
