Samsung shows off new Galaxy Core budget handset

Just when you thought there wasn't any more room in the Smartphone universe for another Galaxy, Samsung comes along and shows off another. This one known as the Core, is a budget version, designed to offer a functional contemporary handset for a smaller fee than it's bigger brothers.

Thanks to the TechRadar breakdown, we know it comes with a 4.3 inch, 480 x 800 pixel display and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The interface will be familiar to anyone that's used a Galaxy phone before. Internally it's packing a 1.2GHZ dual-core CPU, a single 1GB of memory and 8GB of flash storage. If you want a little extra breathing room though, this can be expanded by a further 64GB in the form of an microSD card.

As you'd expect with Samsung, it comes in a couple of colour variations

The most notable feature of the Core however, is that it includes dual-sim support, letting users access both sims without the need to restart the device. This won't be a standard feature though, there will in-fact be two versions of the Core (so that's technically two new Galaxy handsets to add to Samsung's already long list of Galaxies): one that's a single sim and one dual-sim.

Camera wise, both versions of the Core come with a 5-megapixel affair, featuring an LED flash. Videos record at a maximum of 480p.

KitGuru Says: Being in-front of a PC all day has always made it seem unnecessary for me to remain fully up to date with phones. My Galaxy SII still feels like a masterpiece compared to what I had last year.
