Since the launch of Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft has done well to cultivate a number of 3rd party partnerships, bringing many titles – both big and small – to the subscription service day-and-date with their global release. One such title was 2022’s Citizen Sleeper: “a Tabletop-inspired narrative RPG set on Erlin’s Eye, a ruined space station that is home to thousands of people trying to survive on the edges of an interstellar capitalist society”. Following the announcement of a sequel, Citizen Sleeper 2 has been confirmed to also be coming day-one to Game Pass.
Taking to the Xbox Wire Blog, Gareth Damian Martin – the Founder of studio ‘Jump Over the Age’ – said “If you haven’t given our unique RPG a try, I’m happy to share that Citizen Sleeper will be staying on Game Pass, giving you plenty of opportunity to experience it for the foreseeable future.”
Martin continued, “But that isn’t all; thanks to the massively positive response to Citizen Sleeper, the game is also getting a sequel – Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, and it’s coming to Xbox consoles. And, just like the original, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector will be a day one Game Pass release, meaning subscribers will be able to play on Xbox Series consoles and PC from launch.”
For the uninitiated, Citizen Sleeper is a text-based table-top styled RPG with a dice rolling mechanic. The game was nominated for a bunch of awards following its release, including ‘RPG of the year’ at the DICE awards; ‘Games for Impact’ at The Game Awards and ‘Game Beyond Entertainment’ at the BAFTA Gaming Awards.
Considering the first game’s success on the platform, it is not surprising to see Citizen Sleeper 2:Starward Vector also launching day-one on Game Pass.
