Microsoft to bring Age Of Empires to iOS and Android

Microsoft Corp will be bringing their popular Age Of Empires PC game to the Apple iOS and Android market thanks to a tie in with Japan's KLab Inc. They expect that sales will be strong for such an iconic game.

The Microsoft gaming business is focused almost entirely now on their Xbox products, but mobile devices are taking up a bigger and bigger percentage of overall sales, thanks in part to the very low pricing of ‘casual' titles on the mobile platforms.

This isn't the first time that Microsoft have released games on the mobile operating systems, but a big title such as Age Of Empires is already attracting a lot of attention from the public. Quite how it will translate from the PC screen to a smallish phone screen is still yet unknown.

KLab will be developing the mobile version of the title which is planned to be released before the end of March.

The impact this game has had on KLab is remarkable. According to Reuters “Shares in KLab were overwhelmed by a glut of buy orders in Tokyo trade on Tuesday, with its price indicated at 972 yen, 18 percent higher than its last close.”

The game will be released worldwide, in English and the plans are to release it in other languages and on a Windows Phone ‘in the future'.
