The War Z forced to rename itself due to copyright dispute

Remember The War Z? Me neither really, but it was that game that caused controversy earlier this year (and a bit late last year) for releasing without many of its advertised features, being bug filled, banning gamers for playing too much; all of which resulted in the shyster producer of the game, apologising to all those involved. Now that game has been forced to rename itself, because its come up against the Hollywood legal might behind the upcoming adaptation of Max Brooks' book, World War Z, and understandably, it backed down.

“Who cares what it's called, really…”

The new name for the game is “Infestation: Survivor Stories,” which while not being a great name, would certainly have helped separate the game from DayZ, the game it quite obviously borrowed much of its inspiration from.

“While we were reluctant to rename the game so long after launch, especially with nearly one million registered players, it was ultimately decided to be in the best interest of our existing community as well as future players in order to eliminate confusion,” community manager Kewk said on the official forum.
