John Lennon’s 1965 Ferrari sells for £360,000

The 1965 330GT 2+2 Coupe that John Lennon owned after he passed his driving test was sold at Goodwood Festival Of Speed for a staggering £359,900. The car passed the estimated value of £180,000-£200,000.

Legend has it that when Lennon passed his driving test, luxury car dealers appeared at his house to offer the Beatle a list of exotic cars, hoping they could promote their brand. In the end Lennon selected the £6,500 Ferrari which was finished in Azzuro blue, with a matching blue interior. Lennon only drove the car for 20,000 miles and then sold it in 1967.

There were more than 1,000 people watching the auction at GoodWood, and there were phone bidders from 32 other countries.

Kitguru says: cars owned by celebrities often go for well over the estimated price. None more famous than John Lennon.
