Sapphire shows off R7 260X

Continuing its refresh of the 7 series generation of GPUs, AMD (and specifically Sapphire) has unveiled another, this time switching out the 7790 OC for its fresh faced alternative, the R7 260X. Performance is likely to be mostly comparable as it was in our reference review, but the cooler has seen some changes.

Designed to cater to the budget gamer, this solution will offer decent performance in most contemporary games, but don't expect to be running them at full detail and maintain a steady 60 FPS. Sacrifices will need to be made, even though high resolutions shouldn't be a problem.

It features a 896 stream processors, with a core clock of 1150MHz and 2GB of GDDR5 running at 1150MHz and fully supports the latest DirectX 11.2, along with AMD's much touted Mantle API which is being implemented in a bunch of new titles, including every Frostbite 3 one.

Like all graphics core next hardware, this card also supports AMD features like TrueAudio, 3D and Eyefinity support. Outputs include dual link DVI-I and DVI-D, displayport 1.2 and HDMI through an HDMI 1.4a port.

KitGuru Says: It also supports resolutions up too 4k, though if you fancy spending a grand or more on your display, chances are you'll be going more powerful with your GPU.
