There are a few educational games floating about in the library of Rift enabled experiences at the moment, Titans of Space being perhaps the most awe inspiring of the bunch, but they're few and far between. Looking to add at least one more to that number is Europeana, a cultural heritage organisation that wants to bring the museums of the world to your living room by mapping their layouts and exhibits into a 3D environment so you can explore in the first person using your Rift.

“Imagine being able to look around museums and visit heritage sites that you otherwise might never be able to see because you can’t afford it, or aren't physically able to travel, or just don’t have the time,” reads the developer's pitch. This might be the end game, but in the mean time it's hired on Archivision to create a proof of concept, that lets you look at some famous paintings from the Dutch Rijksmuseum in a virtual environment. This shows what it would be like to one day walk around some of the most famous museums in the world and even provides an experience that's somewhat better than reality, since most of these paintings can't be viewed as up close and personal as they can be in the demo.

It doesn't look quite this pretty in the Rift, but it isn't bad

Expect further developments coming next year with a big release set to come out alongside the commercial version of the Rift.

KitGuru Says: This is quite interesting really. I really enjoyed Titans of Space and Museum of the Microstar so I don't see why this wouldn't work for art fans.
