Game of Thrones continues to be a media force to be reckoned with, as the introduction of the show's third series on Tesco owned and operated on-demand service Blinkbox, saw an increase in year-on-year revenue boost of a massive 632 per cent.
Granted we're only comparing the revenue earned on 15th July 2012 with the same from the 15th July this year, but it shows Game of Thrones continues to be one of TV's hottest properties, which Blinkbox has done well to secure – it just seems a shame it's taken them this long.
Blinkbox also promoted the show with this amazing dragon skull sculpture on a Dorset beach.
During its initial run, Game of Thrones is shown on BSkyB's Sky Atlantic channel and isn't available on on-demand services like Lovefilm or Netflix, meaning many fans that don't have sky go without, or pirate to keep up with the show. Those that were lacking their GoT fix, will now get a chance with Blinkbox at least.
KitGuru Says: This is the problem with services like Sky, they get these monopolies on movies and TV shows, forcing people to either sign up for reams of channels they don't want, or pirate. I don't understand why HBO doesn't just make all episodes available on its website for a small fee, at all times – it would make a killing. [Cheers Mediaweek]
