New iPhones will be called 5S and 5C say Macotakara

A Japanese website say they have confirmation that Apple will be calling their new iPhone the iPhone 5S, and that Apple's rumoured low cost iPhone will be known as the iPhone 5C.

Macotakara are saying they know ‘sources in Asia' have confirmed the names are correct. The ‘C' moniker is said to stand for colour with a range of new colour options available at launch. The new range of iPhones should be launched in September according to various sources.

As we reported before, Apple will be releasing a low cost iPhone model to target emerging markets, however this model may not be released at the same time as the flagship update. Apple have been targeting the lower end markets by offering their older models at cut prices, but they want to shift away from this way of selling.

There are also rumours of a fingerprint scanner and a slow motion camera, particularly as a strong of code in the latest iOS7 software package has hinted at a scanner function.

The code details a user touching the Home button with their thumb. A fingerprint then appears on the screen – this then changes colour to signify a match.

Other code in iOS7 hints that phones running the latest software will be able to record video at a rate of 120 frames per second, up from 30 frames per second in the current iOS build.

iOS7 will also let the user swipe between menus, control the devices screen using head movements and select apps with a swipe.

The Maps applicationw is said to have a new ‘night mode' which will respond to ambient light.
