Aria stocking Samsung 1TB 840 EVO SSDs

If you want to get your hands on a terrabyte of SSD storage, you better get a move on, as the UK's first batch of the Samsung 840 EVO 1TB edition is almost out of stock. Just three remain over at Aria at the time of writing, for just under £500 a piece.

This represents a pretty impressive price tag too, since this equals out to just under 50p per GB. Go back just four years, and you'd have been spending nearly this much on a humble 100GB drive, with simple SATA II performance. This drive on the other hand, is SATA III, featuring maximum sequential read/write speeds of 540MB/s and 520 MB/s respectively.

For those that want a little more technical info, this one makes use of the MEX controller, which some tests have shown offering a near 30 per cent increase in 4K random IOPS performance over the previous generation of 840 SSDs.

With just a few of these left, don't think you can swoop in and buy them up and then hawk a couple on Ebay at an inflated priced to make your money back. If you want to order one of these, that's all you're getting, as it's limited to web only orders and then, only one per order.

KitGuru Says: A nice deal if any of you have a spare few hundred. Not cheap by any means, but well priced for what you're getting.
