Intel Arc “Battlemage” GPUs were spotted during visit to chip lab

Intel has recently organised a Tech Tour to give attendees some insights into how they develop, test, and manufacture chips. As such, those who participated in the event had direct access to the company's most secure locations, which are actively working on next-generation client and enterprise product development. During the tour, one of the attendees noticed a few chips and wafers for some of Intel's upcoming products, including a Battlemage GPU.

Andreas Schilling from HardwareLuxx was one of the Tech Tour participants who commented on social media about what he saw. As stated in the post, he saw Emerald Rapids wafers and even some Meteor Lake chips (C0 stepping). The two have already been confirmed and are expected to be released relatively soon.

Moreover, Schilling saw what he believes to be a Battlemage GPU in the Failure Analysis Lab. The name plainly indicates that this is the next-generation Battlemage discrete GPU, presently rumoured to be the G10. This graphics chip should succeed the Alchemist ACM-G10 GPU as the new top-tier SKU from Intel.

The Intel BGM-G10 has been listed in leaked roadmaps dated as far back as Q3 2022. Back then, they were expected to launch in Q2 2024, but things might have changed between now and then. Besides the BMG-G10 (225W TDP), Intel is also planning a mid-range BGM-G21 (150W TDP). In terms of specs, the new GPU is rumoured to have double the core count of the ACM-G10, with 64 Xe-Cores. Intel is expected to keep the BCM-G10 memory bus at 256 bits.

KitGuru says: If Battlemage GPUs are already being tested in the lab, there's a good chance that we'll see them around Q2 next year.
