Apple US offer ‘trade in’ iPhone deal

Apple in America are offering a trade in deal for your old iPhone. Apple are calling it the ‘iPhone Reuse and Recycling Program'. Customers can bring their old iPhone to an Apple Store and get credit for it in the shape of an Apple gift card.

Apple spokeswoman Amy Bessette spoke to ABC news “iPhones hold great value. So, Apple Retail Stores are launching a new program to assist customers who wish to bring in their previous-generation iPhone for reuse or recycling. In addition to helping support the environment, customers will be able to receive a credit for their returned phone that they can use toward the purchase of a new iPhone.”

ABC news said that to get money the iPhone must be in working condition. Apple store employees will study the condition of the iPhone and work out the value. A 16GB iPhone 5 in good condition would be valued at close to $300 according to the report.

Additionally the trade in deal is only applicable if the person has an iPhone contract. If you do not have a contract then customers will have to sign up again to get the cash.

The Apple Store trade in deal comes just before Apple plan on releasing a new iPhone – rumoured to be called the iPhone 5S. It will have a faster processor, fingerprint reader and will be offered in a gold colour. A cheaper iPhone 5C model is said to be around the corner, available in a selection of colours.

The new iPhone models are said to be released around September 10th and will be available in stores on September 20th.
