Binatone release retro Brick phone with 28 hours talk time

Technology may be advancing every day, but most of us with a new, modern smartphone often have to recharge our battery every day. If you are on the phone a lot with business, this can be frustrating. UK electronics company Binatone have showcased their new ‘The Brick' phone which has 3 months of standby time and 28 hours of talktime before a recharge. Heck, it even comes with an integrated flashlight.

The talking point is the design. Binatone have designed the phone to look 20 years old. The tiny 1.8 inch TFT display has 128×160 resolution. No 3G either, just 2G GSM/GPRS. Fortunately there is bluetooth built in and the company have added a Micro USB port to connect peripherals such as a headset. It can also charge another device through the same port.

The Power Edition of the phone offers the 3 month standby/28 hour talk time – it ships with a 2000 mAh battery. The standard Brick phone has a 1,000 mAh battery for half the standby and talk time. The company are also offering an XXL brick battery which they claim will offer standby time close to 6 months, or talk time for over 2 days.

The phone will hit the UK in early October priced at £50, with the Power Edition costing £80. You can see more on the phone here.

  1. The XXL battery, along with other accessories, never happened. Their website still lists those items as “coming soon”, but they have admitted on their Facebook page that they have abandoned those items.
