Nintendo announced a new console last night, which they hope will target those people who want an inexpensive, portable console.
The 2DS will cost £109.99 in the United Kingdom and $130 in America, which is $40 less than the 3D version.
The new console will launch in both countries on 12th October, the same day Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are released. It will be available in a choice of red and white or blue and black.
The new version of the console has a dual screen setup and features the same gameplay controls and touchscreen as the 3DS. The unit has wifi access for online multiplayer games and to download items from the Japanese company eShop.
Nintendo have also recently cut the price of their Wii U, from $350 to $300 in America.
Outspoken head of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aime said that the price reductions are a strong move for Nintendo, especially as they head to the end of the year sales.
He said “Nintendo has one of the strongest and most diverse video game lineups in our history. Today we're making those unique Nintendo experiences more accessible and affordable. However you play and whatever you play, Nintendo has you covered.”
Kitguru says: Nintendo 2DS. Is 2D the future?
Nintendo, running out of ideas since 2006…
That is hideous. Looks very awkward to play as well..
