SanDisk shows off new X210 SSD for business

Storage manufacturer SanDisk, has announced the introduction of a new SSD in its enterprise lineup: the X210, offering improved performance for key IT support parts and better responsiveness for the data centre as a whole.

Available only through SanDisk's commercial busisess channel, those wanting to upgrade the responsiveness of their businesses' hardware can do so in a varierty of sizes. The X210 comes in everything you might expect, up to a maximum of 512GB. Performance wise, it offers a maximum sequential read/write of 505MBps and 470MBps respectively.

Beyond that though, this drive offers SanDisk's proprietary storage system architecture that makes use of nCache acceleration tech – the same one found in SanDisk's Extreme II commercial SSD – and utilises automated power management to help maintain battery life in mobile devices.

“Since launching SanDisk’s commercial SSD channel earlier this year, we have received a tremendous response from businesses that have seen significant advantages from incorporating SanDisk solid-state technology into their data center and workplace PCs and notebooks,” said Tarun Loomba, vice president of Storage Solutions marketing at SanDisk. “Leveraging SanDisk’s most advanced flash memory technology and smart power-saving capabilities, the X210 SSD is an exceptionally fast and cost-effective storage solution for this growing market, and a great addition to our SanDisk SSD portfolio.”

KitGuru Says: This is something I've discussed more on some other sites I write for for with more of a business focus, but those of you in IT positions at work, how is the uptake of SSDs where you are? Do your bosses see the benefits over traditional HDDs?
