Google have announced a new company who will be targeting health and wellbeing issues with a ‘particular focus on aging and associated diseases'.
The company will be called Calico and are headed by Arthur D. Levinson, Chairman of Apple and Genentech. No details have yet been released on the company structure and what diseases they are planning on targeting and even if they will be working with current bodies in the health research field.
Google CEO Larry Page said “Illness and aging affect all our families. With some longer term, moonshot thinking around healthcare and biotechnology, I believe we can improve millions of lives. It’s impossible to imagine anyone better than Art—one of the leading scientists, entrepreneurs and CEOs of our generation—to take this new venture forward.”
