Red Dead Redemption 3 is reportedly in the works

Rockstar's next major game will be none other than Grand Theft Auto 6. However, that doesn't mean the studio's other esteemed franchises will be left behind. A recent leak claims that Red Dead Redemption 3 will be coming up.

Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick already confirmed that he believes Red Dead Redemption should continue in an interview back in 2021, likening Rockstar's franchises to entertainment behemoths like James Bond. However, in that same interview, he also stressed the company's desire to make each major Rockstar game feel like a special event, which ultimately means ‘resting' titles for a period of time to build up demand for a sequel.

Film leaker MyTimeToShineH recently claimed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is on the way and they have also made the claim that Red Dead Redemption 3 is “officially in the works“. This person does have a track record for film leaks but is not an established games leaker, so we aren't sure how reliable their sources are in this space.

With that said, Red Dead Redemption 2 was a huge success, although its online multiplayer component did not see the same level of support as GTA Online, which continues to be very popular now ten years later. If a third Red Dead Redemption game is made, it will be interesting to see if we go further back in time to shed light on events leading up to Red Dead Redemption 2, or if we see a whole new cast of characters.

KitGuru Says: GTA 6 isn't out yet so we can assume that any plans for a new Red Dead Redemption are still a long ways off. I wouldn't necessarily even expect the game to release on current generation consoles, as we know Rockstar likes to take its time.
