Intel releases GPU driver hotfix to improve stability on Starfield

Intel just released a new Arc graphics driver to improve the Starfield gameplay experience when running it with an Intel Arc GPU. The updated driver improves Starfield load times as well as certain instability and texture issues but acknowledges that more work still needs to be done.

Starfield might be one of the better Bethesda launches but it does have some issues. Intel Arc GPU users appear to be encountering more problems than most, but this driver hotfix should alleviate some of that.

According to Intel, the new driver fixes game instability and visual artefacts, but there are still several important issues to be resolved, and Intel knows that. In a tweet, Intel said that another driver release should be coming next week with additional fixes. Below, you can see the most important fixes brought by this driver:

  • Starfield (DX12) Game load duration is significantly reduced.
  • Starfield (DX12) may experience instability and application crash while launching and during gameplay.
  • Starfield (DX12) may exhibit texture corruptions and scene flickers during gameplay.

However, there are still a number of known issues, including:

  • Starfield (DX12) may experience application instability in some areas of the game.
  • Starfield (DX12) may exhibit corruption when using Dynamic Resolution Scaling. A workaround is to change the Render Resolution Scale slider value.
  • Starfield (DX12) may exhibit texture flickering on light sources during gameplay.
  • Starfield (DX12) may exhibit low texture details on certain objects in the game.

Currently, it is recommended that users not try to go higher than the High preset if they want to get the best Starfield game experience on Intel GPUs. You can download the Intel graphics driver 31.0.101.4672 HERE.

KitGuru says: The Arc A-series GPUs have improved considerably since launch through driver updates. Hopefully additional patches and driver updates in the weeks ahead can get Starfield running the way it should on all GPUs.
