Call of Duty Ghosts hates 32bit too

Ubisoft made the big announcement a few days ago that it would not be supporting 32bit operating systems with its upcoming titles: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs, as each requires upwards of 4GB of RAM to run properly. Well now it's not the only one to leave the x86 architecture behind, as the minimum requirements for Infinity Ward's upcoming Call of Duty ghosts has now been revealed and it only supports 64bit operating systems too.

Released by Nvidia this morning, the specifications paint Ghosts as a very demanding title, needing at least 6GB of RAM and a ridiculous 50GB install space (SSD users just quaked a little at that), along with a relatively high spec GPU for just the bare minimum: a Radeon 5870, GTX 550 Ti or better. Other minimum requirements include DirectX 11 (hence the relatively recent GPU necessity) and a CPU that's either as powerful as an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 or AMD Phenom X3 8750.

It's pretty, but is it really GTX 780 pretty?

Recommended requirements only needs a graphics card enhancement, but it's a big one. To have the recommended stature of gaming rig necessary for Ghosts, you're going to need at least a GTX 780. This seems like an overreach, as only a very few per cent of all PC gamers can afford a card like the GTX 780, as you'd be lucky to find it at the moment for less than £500. The price will of course come down in time, but Ghosts is releasing next month; that's not much of a lead in time for upgrades. On top of that, the footage we've seen from Ghosts is pretty, but not that pretty.

Call of Duty Ghosts is set for release on PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360 on 5th November, 15th and 29th of November in NA and EU respectively on the PS4 and 22nd November on the Xbox One.

KitGuru Says: While I'm sure we're all mostly on 64bit OS at this point, that 50GB install is a bit nasty. It makes downloading much more of a lengthy process, even for those with fast connections and means those with SSDs will struggle to fit it on with any other games they might have installed at the time.

Ccleaner it is.

  1. I was tempted to build a rig, rather then next gen console.. But £500 for a card, to play COD, I may stay console.
