G.Skill shows of DDR4 modules and live demos 32GB DDR3

Memory manufacturer G.Skill has shown off its DDR4 modules for the first time at the Intel Developer Forum, alongside a real-life demo of its latest DDR3 kits too, made up of eight separate 4GB modules.

While DDR4 has been talked about as the next-step in memory production for quite some time, it's not really been necessary as a development, but now finally, companies are beginning to push it, with G.Skill joining the fray here. Speeds of the current engineering sample, with its minimalist looking PCBs, were PC4-17000 per 4GB module.

While DDR4 is stil under development, it's been shown working with Haswell-E chips and could be available sooner than we expect. However, most sources believe it will remain much more expensive than we've come to expect RAM to be, at least until sometime in 2015.

Also at the show, G.Skill performed a more real world test, with 32GB of 3000MHz running DDR3, with timings at an impressive 12-14-14-35. You can watch a video of the demo here: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7BY8xthdHY']

  1. I’ve got 16 GB of DDR3 1333 right now. Wanting to make the jump to 32, but it’s still a bit expensive right now.

  2. I have 24gb Vengeance, soon to be 32gb 😀
