Back in June the Valve Jira database was made accessible, revealing groups working on Source 2, Left 4 Dead 3 and Half-Life 3. History has repeated itself as last month the database was accessed once again, showing some interesting changes.
The groups for Source 2, Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 have grown in size most notably, with a few composers being added. We now know that a new Valve composer, Emily Ridgway, is working on the music for Left 4 Dead 3 alongside Mike Morasky, the man behind the music in Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2.
Now that the music for Left 4 Dead is out of the way lets talk Half-Life 3. The original series composer, Kelly Bailey, who left Valve a few years back has returned, being listed as working on both Left 4 Dead 3 and Half-Life 3. Couple this information with the trade mark Valve filed yesterday and you might go as far as to say Half-Life 3 really is confirmed.
Right now there are more people working on Left 4 Dead 3 including the lead designer for Portal 2, Doug Church, who has worked on several high profile series including Deus EX and Thief. That said, the team behind the next Half-Life is growing too. In fact, you can see the full list of people working on each project here.
KitGuru Says: I'd like to see these projects announced for the launch of the first Steam Machines – it would be a great fit and raise hype for the systems. While official announcements for these projects are probably still some time away, it's good to know Valve is increasing the work being put in to them.
