Destiny, the long awaited game developed by ‘Halo' creators, Bungie and its partner in crime: Activision, just got it's first game-play trailer along with pre-order beta access details and box art.
Destiny is an ambitious game with a persistent growing universe, which Bungie wants to expand over the next 10 years, keeping it for the entire lifespan of the next gen consoles. Details are still a bit thin on the ground, but here's what we do know:
- The last city on earth will act as a MMO style hub for players
- Hunter, Warlock and Titan are confirmed classes
- A large part of the game will include defending the last city
- Destiny has some form of partnership with the PS4
Now lets talk about the beta details. If you've already pre-ordered the game you'll automatically get a spot, but moving forward, there are limited places available, so if you wait too long you might not get in. Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, gave this statement after the announcement: “we're putting all our creative support, and all our expertise into creating blockbuster franchises, into a colossal Destiny Beta that we believe will set a new bar for the next generation of games. Fans have a lot to look forward to in 2014.”
There's has no exact release date for the beta, but we were given an elusive time window: early 2014.
This is the final box art for the game, showing off the look of the three confirmed classes.

The trailer not only shows off some of the game-play but also reveals some story details, telling us about the aliens hiding in the core of the moon waiting to attack earth.
Destiny will release in Spring of 2014 for current generation and next generation consoles. There is no PC release confirmed for now.
KitGuru Says: The fact that there is no PC release is seriously disappointing but this has potential to be a system selling title. I'm intrigued to see what will come out of the partnership with Sony too. Are you guys excited for Destiny?
There is no lack of ambition, and i give them the benefit of the doubt as well as an open mind. Cause this might feel like a halo clone. MIGHT. Cause the guys in halo are working on it too. But that is a hasty generalization. I digress, as of this moment however, i am disappointed that they as well as other games do not have PC in mind when it comes to release dates. Considering consoles are close to no longer being able to compete with PC’s Graphics-wise.
Fanboys can argue that this is next gen this, next gen that. Sure. Support your favorite console. I can respect that. But saying console X is better than Y or Consoles in general are > than PC is well..stupid.
Fact remains, that games are made with a PC and it makes sense that there should be more PC games out there.
Sure argue that there are pirates. Stopping PC game releases won’t stop pirates from ripping the game on consoles anyway.
PC is a lucrative platform that developers can’t ignore.
