GTA V on PC conspiracy theory

Put on your tin foil hats guys, it's time for a good old conspiracy theory. Answer this question though: why isn't GTA V on the PC yet? According to one guy at Intel, it's because some serious money changed hands to make sure it remained a console exclusive; for now at least.

This theory was put forward by Director of Marketing for Intel’s Premium Notebooks, Chris R Silva, who said in an interview with PCGamer, that when you have two companies like Microsoft and Sony sitting on massive cash stockpiles and wanting very much to keep their ailing hardware at the forefront until the new-generation can be released, it's possible that some back handed deals went down to keep GTA off the PC for now.

“Somebody paid a lot of money to make sure that title was exclusive,” he suggested.

Don't worry, “The Body,” is all over this one.

However, even if this did happen, he doesn't think it will be long before GTA V hits the PC. Despite decreased sales in desktops, the sale of individual hardware components remains high and games similarly are making a killing on the PC at the moment. If Rockstar wants to make a lot more money from its latest game – and we know it does – then it would be ridiculous not to think a PC release isn't just around the corner.

KitGuru Says: I'm not one for conspiracies usually, but there could be a shred of truth in this one. What do you guys think?

  1. I think there is a much more logical reason except the financial intervention of the big companies. Lately Rockstart has always first been developing for consoles releasing the PC version a while later. This time actually i think it will be a batch release containing PC, PS4 and XBONE releases. Taking into consideration that the three platforms are now all x86 based it only makes sense not to push PC release date before next gen consoles launch allowing more time for optimizations. The release of the current gen console versions could also be considered a funding for the development of the above because as we all know additional time has to be put into increasing visuals to match the capabilities of better hardware.
