Halo’s Cortana is Microsoft’s Siri alternative

If you've thought that Microsoft's Windows phone platform was lacking a voice activated search feature like Apple's Siri, then don't worry, it won't be like that for much longer, as Cortana, the AI chick from the Halo series is going to be your new digital companion.

Cortana will spread herself across the Windows phone, PC and Xbox platforms, offering not only basic search functionality, but according to Zdnet, the ability to learn and adapt to your styles of speech and preferences for search. It could go further than that too, potentially transforming the way people use their phones and search for information – or at least, that's the plan.

Something tells me you guys would pick the Cortana from Halo 4… for some reason.

However Cortana is also likely to appear in significant form on the Xbox One as well. There, with the added processing power and lack of reliance on battery power, she could have more of a 3D form and potentially find herself flitting around your operating system.

This is a technology Microsoft has been working on for a while, but it won't make much of an announcement until it's somewhat ready, so it's no surprise that we've not heard much yet. Unfortunately, this means it could be some time before this tech is ready to go. Of course the other argument could be that this is an unannounced launch feature of the Xbox One; at this point we just don't know.

KitGuru Says: So what do you guys reckon? Do you want Cortana saying hello every time you turn on your Xbox and phone?

  1. I’m more of a Playstation and PC user, Xbox has it’s pro’s and con’s but I’ll be looking into getting the Nokia Lumia window’s phone, Think this is a really awesome Idea and will add a nice “Gamers” touch to people phone 🙂

  2. Microsoft have been working on voice tech since before I was born, should be interesting to see what they’ve finally come up with.
