Call of Duty getting double XP weekend

If you stayed up late last night for the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts, or are itching to get home to open up your delivered, pre-order copy, don't worry about being several hours behind people in more Eastern parts of the world, as this coming weekend, Infinity Ward is offering up a double experience event to help you level up faster.

Set to run from 8AM GMT on the Friday until the same time on the following Monday, the event will be applicable to all currently released versions of the game, including PC, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3.

CoD: Ghosts 2 will have you paying for these with real money. Mark my words.

Call of Duty: Ghosts has reviewed well, but been criticised for not adding much in the way of new content. Even the new Extinction mode is something we've seen before in Gears of War and many other games. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for the FIFA players of the world that want the same experience but with slightly better graphics, year on year, but for anyone hoping for something revolutionary, it's disappointing.

KitGuru Says: This seems so counter intuitive, why have a levelling up mechanic, if the first thing you do is offer a way to speed up the process? I know this is designed to get people playing, but surely they would be right after launch any way? On top of that, if levelling takes too long, why not lower the thresholds instead of offering a one off sprint over a weekend? [Cheers CVG]
