Batman Arkham Origins has finally knocked GTA V off of the top of the sales chart this weekend, but it's sold only around half of the copies that Arkham City managed to push when it was released back in 2011. That said, the numbers are comparable to the original Asylum's, so that's hardly something to sniff at.
As Eurogamer points out, these sales numbers make the biggest ever Batman game in the UK, Lego Batman: The Videogame.
“WHERE ARE THE OTHER GAMES GOING?!”
Origins has struggled a little in the build up to its release, despite a continued dark tone, improved visuals and combat system over the previous look-ins at the Dark Knight's escapades. The problem stems from the developer change. While Rocksteady Studios developed both the original Arkham Asylum and its critically acclaimed sequel, Arkham City, the prequel in the series, Origins, was handed off to Warner Bros Montreal. While it seems to have done a pretty good job according to reviews, some have criticised the fact that the game doesn't really evolve the series in the way that City managed to.
With Origins taking the top slot in the rankings however, GTA V has now been pushed into second, with FIFA 14, Skylanders: Swap Porce and the two new Pokemon games (X followed by Y) taking up the following few places.
KitGuru Says: Have any of you tried Arkham Origins yet? If you have, how does it stack up against he previous games?
