Crash Bandicoot returning to Sony?

Activision appears to have erased Crash Bandicoot from all of its web properties, leading us to believe that the old Sony mascot might make its return to Sony, the place where the little marsupial began his career.

You guys all know who Naughty Dog are. It created the Last of Us and the Uncharted series but it also created Crash Bandicoot in 1996, bringing 4 Crash games to the original PlayStation before moving on to Jak and Daxter on the PlayStation 2.

The franchise was originally owned by Universal, Activision gained possession in the early 2000's.

A Reddit user by the name of cocobandicoot was the first on the ball, creating a post detailing the evidence. First off, Activision no longer has support pages or any references to any of its Crash Bandicoot titles, it's just completely gone, and the official Crash Bandicoot website, which was owned and operated by Activision, is also down.

The post has a few other supporting arguments but the really interesting one seems to be this picture:

On the left, we see a silouhette that does bare some resemblance to the character, taken from a PS4 advert.

Maybe the announcement was pulled back and saved for the VGA's at the last minute, but we won't know until we hear from Sony.

Kitguru Says: I think a next generation Crash Bandicoot game would be awesome. We could do with a decent Spyro comeback too while we're at it. Would you guys like to see Crash Bandicoot come back on the PS4?

  1. Absolutely loved Spyro 1,2 & year of the dragon. Bought the ps2 one but it was linear and crap by new developers. Have the earlier ones emulated so I can play every now and then. Would love see Spyro make a return.

  2. Oh yes loved both series of games – Though did not get the chance to play as much Spyro as I would have liked a the time.

Loved the Crash game – Hell even the racing was good.
