Battlefield 4 PC issues ‘affecting a large number of players’

Battlefield 4 is one of the most popular games on the PC however the launch has been less smooth than developer DICE had hoped. They have been responding to reports of the game crashing, freezing and losing sound and assure people that a patch is on the way.

Readers on the Kitguru Facebook page have been sending us messages since launch complaining about problems. One reader said that he has been unable to play the game due to issues and this is on a Haswell system with a new AMD video card. Others have reported lost sound, poor frame rate performance and even losing save game files.

DICE have issued a statement ‘We are working on a PC client patch at the moment and hope to release it soon. We will share the patch notes once we have the patch contents finalised. The main focus is to fix as many crashes as possible, starting with the issues affecting a large number of players.'

The developer are addressing reports that multiplayer progress is also being lost and single player save files are being corrupted.

DICE will be releasing a fix soon for the multiplayer audio problems as well and they are also investigating reports that promotional Battlepack items are not appearing.

The company have issued four server updates already, and a fifth is coming soon.

Kitguru says: According to the latest industry figures, Battlefield 4 has not managed to outsell Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag.

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

  1. yes, the PC version had a lot of problems. last night though, the only problem was sound being lost. last night was the first time i could play for a couple hours without freezing, crashing, no lag, had a blast playing. i still have the problem with the single player freezing and crashing during the cinematic opening to mission 6. hope thats fixed soon.

  2. *opens single player*, *takes 2 steps*, BSOD!, reboot, repeat

  3. Yup, The game crashes frequently during scripted events allot of people D/C even when it was working in Beta and then the famous changing map causes the client to crash on same DL.

Not to mention the server crashing and thus loosing some earned stats.
It’s a real pain considering how “well” the beta ran on my PC.

  4. Thought i would share my disappointment with bf4 i installed the game when i was running windows 8 x64 when i installed it my pc started uncontrollable BSOD crashes sound problems etc so i decided to upgrade to windows 8.1 x64 after that i installed bf4 and origin first so i had no other applications running on the computer with a fresh install and the latest beta 8 drivers from amd
    system specs
    2600k overclock taken off
    7970 3gb overclock taken off
    16gb gskilz 2133mhz ram
    2 x intel 520 120gb SSD’s in raid 0
    corsair psu
    watercooled etc
so i can literally run any game flawlessly that i want with no crashs etc ever
after i did the fresh install of windows and installed bf4 it started again BSOD bf4 stopped working game freezing etc

windows errors from today all from bf4 crashes within 2 hours 15 of them http://i.imgur.com/utVBnSE.jpg
today i had enough and i phoned up for a refund i have been on the phone with EA for 3 hours today as they tried to fix my game for
they made me give them a DXdiagnostics file of my computer, then made me do a clean boot with no other programs running in the background and sat on the phone till it crashed 5 mins later it crashed and i sent them a picture http://i.imgur.com/YcZxdB4.jpg
they put me on hold for 20mins and came back to me stating they couldnt give me a refund for the game as i havn’t done so in the 24hour period after i first launched the game, so i was quite frustrated with this tbh so i checked my right as a consumer http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/problem/i-want-to-return-my-goods-what-are-my-rights/
reading through it i came to the conclusion i was within my rights to ask for a refund as the game was not fit for purpose or faulty on point of sale which gave me 4 weeks to ask for a refund, i then went and phoned them up again but this time got through to the UK department i explained the situation and my frustration and they went ahead and gave me the refund after i pointed out my consumer rights when purchasing something from a company
here my premium refund still waiting for the digital deluxe refund though
