Far Cry 7 sounds like the most interesting Far Cry in years

Ubisoft's open-world games have become very formulaic over the years. Each Far Cry game plays pretty similarly. However, with Far Cry 7, it sounds like Ubisoft is actually trying something different and based on what we know so far, it could be a very interesting game.

Insider Gaming has spoken with multiple sources who have claimed that Far Cry 7 will feature a non-linear story. The game will focus on a player attempting to rescue their family members, who have been kidnapped by a conspiracy group currently referred to as the ‘Sons of Truth'. The twist is that players will be under a countdown timer, giving you 72 in-game hours to rescue your family before they all die.

According to the report, 72 in-game hours is currently measured at 24 real-world hours but as the game is still in development with the goal of releasing in the second half of 2025, we would expect this to be tweaked a bit by the time the game lands. Players will be able to rescue their family members in any order and it is possible to fail the rescue and have a family member die. If a family member dies, it will impact the remaining story, so we can expect multiple endings.

You won't just be given the location of each family member on a map. Instead, there will be an interrogation mechanic, allowing you to obtain the information you need from enemies. Some of them will give you accurate information, while others will lie, stay quiet or attempt an escape.

The concept sounds refreshing for a Far Cry title. If Ubisoft can have true ending variations, then the game will have plenty of replayability as there will be completionists looking to find every possible outcome. Don't expect it to be as in-depth as a David Cage game though.

KitGuru Says: If this leak is accurate then Far Cry 7 might be a breath of fresh air for fans. Do you like the sound of Ubisoft's current plan for Far Cry 7? Or would you prefer a more traditional Far Cry experience?
