Nintendo had a big presence at Gamescom this year with a huge booth to showcase upcoming Switch games. As it turns out, the company's most exciting showings took place behind closed doors, with sources claiming that Nintendo began showing its new console to developers.
Sources speaking with Eurogamer have claimed that a Switch 2 demo took place privately at Gamescom. The report specifically refers to the console as the Switch 2, although we do not know if this is the final name Nintendo will go with for its new generation of console hardware.
This corroborates a previous report from Jez Corden, who also attended Gamescom this year and claimed to have heard about Nintendo's secret Switch 2 meetings. It has also recently been claimed that some key studios have begun receiving development kits for Nintendo's new console.
Currently, it is expected that Nintendo will launch its next system in 2024, although the exact timing is still up in the air. If developers are getting access to the hardware now, then we would anticipate a late 2024 launch window to grant enough time for developers to get their first games prepared.

KitGuru Says: If this is indeed true then we will likely see more leaks in the months ahead, particularly as more teams get access to development kits.
